Mission – Navy Yard DC

Mission Navy Yard before the Nats game. We have been wanting to try this place for a while. There are always events going on so it is best to get there early. The bar was full 3hrs before the first pitch. Had the Queso. It is a creamy cheese dip. Not Rebe’s favorite but I like it fine. The chips are crispy and almost pita like. Red and green salsas were flavorful with a slight hint of heat. Good stuff. Ordered Tacos. Had the Chipotle Chicken first. Tacos come on a corn soft tortilla. The taco was average. The chicken was pulled and tender but not a huge amount of flavor. The local catch taco is their fish taco. The fish was breaded nicely and spicy. A little too much crema for my liking. Last taco I had was the buffalo shrimp. Good heat. Again too much crema but flavorful. The buffalo sauce was a little to sweet for my style. Conclusion, this place is a decent enough Mexican restaurant for a quick bite before the game. The food was not special enough for a fancy night out.

Anejo – NYC

Lunch at Anejo. Packed. Good vibe at 12:30 on a Sunday. Had red and green salsa and fresh guacamole. Had the shrimp tacos and roasted cauliflower tacos. Green salsa was spectacular. The red salsa was good with a decent amount of heat. Cauliflower tacos were spectacular as well. Had the Anejo margarita. Nice as well. All around this is a good find and an above average place for Mexican food in Hell’s Kitchen.

This is a Top Chef contestant restaurant.

Yayla Bistro

Turkish Mediterranean

I had the doner kebab; Rebe had the halloumi cheese and the falafel.

Falafel was some of the best I’ve ever had.

The kebab was over rice. Super tender lamb and beef. Awesome and not overly filling.

Halloumi was pan fried. Lightly. Just firm enough. Not chewy at all. Had a marmalade with it. Good pairing.
